What would happen to make a solar day be shorter than sidereal day?

The Earth would have to rotate in the opposite direction.
This is the case with Venus, which has a retrograde rotation.
Sidereal day 243 days.
Solar day 117 days.

One thing would be for a planet to go around it's star "backwards", in the reverse direction of it's rotation.

A moving planet in its orbit always has its Solar day longer than the Sidereal day.
