SPORT
1. (countable noun) – an activity that you do for pleasure and that needs physical effort or skill, usually done in a special area and according to fixed rules It can be a game or a contest.
a sport = a particular type of sport. The plural form of sport is sports. (~ more than one activity)

His only sport is tennis.
My favourable sports are rugby and swimming.

2. (uncountable noun) – sport in general (British English)
In America, use sports when you refer to sport in general.

He is not interested in sport. ~ British English
He is not interested in sports. ~ American English

Use “sports” in front of a noun (sports + noun)
school sports day, sports section of a newspaper, sports writer,
sports centre, sports equipment, sports injury, sports bar,
sports betting, a sports car, sports coverage, sports shop... etc.

sports is the term for all kind of sport, like fruit , furniture and stationery.
it includes all so it need "s"

sport is just one
e.g.
my favourite sport is playing football.
