Is Guangzhou a safe city in China to travel to? or is there lots of anti-westerner crime?

I live in GZ... I have NEVER had a TAXI SCAM. I have been here for over 4 years. I take a taxi 5 time a week. And I have never heard it from any of my Friends. Does it happen... has it happened? I'm sure it has... but it has to very rare.

I have never been hurt. GZ is very safe. China in fact is. Not much Violent crime at all.

I know WHITE women.. and others that go out after midnight on their own with NO fear. For the most part Chinese will not hurt you. And especially a Westerner. Big trouble for that.

But.... but... beware of scams. pick Pockets and purse snatchers.These types are all over the world.

I have had my phone lifted from my coat. My 2 friends... ( Female ) Had a guy help them with their bags on a Bus Trip that started in GZ. When they got to their destination.... Iphone.. GONE. Kindle... GONE... ¥2,000... GONE!

One of the same girls had her Purse Snatched in a STARBUCKS. Cell phone, Money, PASSPORT!!!!! GONE. So be careful of your things...

But Guangzhou is Very safe. I feel safer here than I do in the USA. I can walk and be out late and Nobody bothers you. You can walk down the street at 2 am with an open beer and Not a person... even a cop will say boo...

I've been to Guangzhou and other large Chinese cities a number of times and never encountered any problem of this nature but nowhere is entirely safe.

There is no such thing as a safe city. There are portions of a city that has fewer crimes and areas that one is more likely to become a victim of crime, but no cities in the world is safe all over.

Guangzhou is no different. A travel should ALWAYS be cautious (not paranoid), because being a traveler you are more likely to have on your persons more money AND a passport which is a high value item in the black market. Being non-Asian in an Asian country means you will standout and the assumption will be that you are a traveler/tourists with money to spend. This makes you a mark for a criminal, so the point is not to make yourself an EASY mark.

As for anti-western crime, I would say what crimes that are commited against westerners is by and large due to the fact that they are tourists (see above paragraph) and not because they are westerners per se.

Places around Guangzhou have been noted for zones there muggings, both knife and drive by, do occur and pick pocketing.

As for anti-westerner crime yes it does occur mostly with taxi scams, returning notes back to you saying that they are damage and giving you back fake ones (make a point of showing that your mentally noting serial numbers when you 100 rmb hand them over) and over charging. Tea scams do happen but they are much less than Beijing or Shanghai.

Where Is Guangzhou

relies upon what section you flow to. lots of fellows there are pervs. basically like all different us of a. My cousin travels lots and pronounced that Italy or Jamaica has the main perviest men ever. Um, of course you're able to do learn reason around this time India isn't so warm! I doubt you choose to be wearing shorts and a tank precise reason around this time it could get relatively chilly at nighttime. In bigger cities, human beings won't provide a sh*t approximately you or the way you look reason they're use to the vacationer. Um, do a splash diagnosis before you flow, and that i advise lots lol. different than that, have relaxing. attempt to evade the unfavorable aspects.
