For Chinese passports alone, unless you hold HKSAR Passport, all other Chinese passport holders (except diplomatic) are required to get a visa before going to Canada.

However, if you have a Permanent Resident Card issued by USCIS, you will be allowed to enter Canada for up to 6 months visa-free (regardless of the country issuing the passport).

Please note, under Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative:

1. If you go by land or sea, passport is not required.

2. If you go by air, passport will be required.

Visitor Visa Exemptions


Many people do not require a visa to visit Canada. These include:

United States citizens and permanent residents: You do not need a visa to visit or transit in Canada if you are a United States citizen or a person lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence who is in possession of their alien registration card (Green card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence.
