Oolites are formed in tropical regions where evaporation is high. The mineral calcite precipitates from seawater and coats sand grains. These only form on beaches. Why do you think this might be?

That is not so.Certainly there are probably more oolitic rock in the tropics, but it also occurs in temperate areas.

oolites form in shallow water with high evaporation as the excess minerals attach to sand and shell grains moved around by wave action.
