We are afraid to make mistakes because it means that we don't know something and no one wants to admit to that.

Because those mistakes can have serious consequences. And once done/said, they can't necessarily be taken back.

We are afraid to learn the mistakes again. Repeating a same mistake will become a habit, which will be more difficult to learn from the mistakes, because you get used to it
