How to pronounce the word 'ordinary'?

2013-03-07 11:27 am
(1). /ˈɔr/ + /dn/ + /ɛ/ /ri/
(2). /ˈɔr/ + /dn/ + /nɛ/ /ri/
I was wondering whether the sound /n/ between the /d/ and /ɛ/ should be duplicated.

It's not usual to duplicate the /n/, either in US or UK English.

The OED has these pronunciations ...

Brit. /ˈɔːdᵻn(ə)ri/ , /ˈɔːdn̩(ə)ri/ , U.S. /ˈɔrdnˌɛri/

Either is acceptable.

Pronunciation #1 is used more often in the UK, while pronunciation #2 is used more in the US.
