However, if the baby's gender is known, using "he" or "she" works as well.

baby係名詞noun，不pronoun代名詞:he she it they這些才是代名詞。

但假如你想問如果一個人叫女朋友做baby咁係咪即係他女朋友個名的代名詞...咁樣意思的代名詞(不是文法)就係不是明文的pronoun。但個字本身仍是一個noun，只是不是作嬰兒解，而是作寶貝解。
