There are two examples illustrates the use of adverbial complement
example 1:
The city lies 225 miles north of Guatemala.
example 2
The nearest inhabitants are a five-day mule trip away.
In the answer, " the use of adverbial complement" and " 225 miles north of Guatemala" are consider as aC
but I get confused that why " the use of adverbial complement" and " 225 miles north of Guatemala " are not subject complement.
Just because aC usually refers to direction/position so we should consider " the use of adverbial complement" and " 225 miles north of Guatemala" are aC?
更新1:

第二題應該係問點解" a five-day mule trip away" is not considered as Sc sorry for my mistake.

Subject complement 用法比較有限制
In grammar, a subject complement is a predicative expression [coming after a verb such as be, become, get, seem, look] that follows a linking verb (copula) [a verb such as be or become that connects a subject with the adjective or noun (called the complement) that describes it]

subject complement 是一些predicative expression, 這些predicative expression通常跟隨著一些動詞 e.g. be, become, get, seem, look, 這些動詞名為linking verb

predicative complement (subject complement) in effect mirrors the subject. Subject complements are used with a small class of verbs called linking verbs or copula, of which be is the most common. Since copula are stative verbs, subject complements are not affected by any action of the verb.

An adverbial complement is an adverbial that is obligatorily subcategorized for by a verb, such that if removed, it will yield an ungrammatical sentence

In your case,
(1) 'lies' is not a linking verb
(2) if the adverbial complement removed, the sentence is not a whole sentence

Hope it may help.
Happy Sunday.
