有關adjective 運用

香港大學 official name 是 University of Hong Kong,
Hong Kong university 現在可能指香港的大學, 香港有數間大學
不過老一輩的人, 言及 Hong Kong U, 是指 University of Hong Kong, 那時香港只有一間大學
當用城市名稱, 多數是 University of “that city”
University of Chicago, University of Birmingham, University of Toronto, University of Melbourne, University of Tokyo… etc

例外: New York University (NYU)
Oxford University, Cambridge University,
official name 仍然是 University of Oxford, University of Cambridge 可能大學名稱出名過市鎮
He graduated from Cambridge University .

Gun control 是compound nouns, two separate nouns to form a term.
tennis club, car park, concert hall

有時用 two separate words, e.g. machine gun, microwave oven
有時用 hyphen, e.g. waste-bin, ball-bearing
有時 two words combine to form one new word, e.g. armchair, website

我想沒有什麼 rules 可 follow, 是 usage 問題,
用得多, 看得多, 有懷疑, 查字典.

題外:
sports shop (不是 sport’s shop)
children’s clothes (不是 children clothes)
She decided to open a shop specializing in children’s clothes.

Know the difference:
A milk bottle = a bottle for putting milk in
A bottle of milk = a bottle full of milk

An English teacher = someone who teaches English (English is a noun)
An English teacher = a teacher who is English. (English is an adjective)

應該用 to.
answer to the question, answer to the problem
I answer (v) your question.
“answer” is also the antonym (反義字) of “question”.
說 answer is a part of question ?
