There is a 50-50 chance that the queen carries gene for hemmophilia. If she is a carrier, then each prince has a 50-50 chance of having hemophilia. If the queen has had three princes without the disease, what is the probability that the queen is a carrier ?If there is a fourth prince, what is the probability that he will have hemophilia?

From the first part, the probability of the queen being a carrier = 1/9; not a carrier = 8/9
If the queen is a carrier, the pr that the 4th prince has the disease = 1/2
if the queent is not a carrier, the pr that the 4th prince has the disease = 0
Hence the required pr = (1/9)(1/2) + (8/9)(0) = 1/18
