Why many girls are so shallow these days?

There is pressure from multiple sources for girls to think about "how much does he make" as being a yardstick to compare, from popular culture in movies/TV to quite a few cultures making it a high priority for "family honor".

I did a long weekend vacation with a buddy with his Porsche Cabriolet convertible, where I even did more than half the driving. Pulled into a rest stop for a snack, and the girl at the food stand had seen us pull in and me getting out from behind the wheel, and I could see that she was actually starting to salivate from apparently being turned on by "my richness", and while I thought I had envied seeing that work for others, when it happened to me I was really disgusted--feeling like I was being reduced to a bank account number.

Sounds like you are making the right decision in running away.

It's a domino effect. Most men think their ladies should be home tending to the kitchen and offspring. In effect, the women look for a guy who can support her and the children financially.

They are equal.... we are equal... It was just a question! She prob doesnt really care! just ask her about it! nbd! and if she does care, well... shes stupid and is one fo those girls that give girls such bad reputattions... were not all like that -_-

i don't think she was joking when she asked you that. you wouldn't jokingly ask someone how much money they make...cause that's a personal question. and why would she be joking anyways.. so she def is there for your money.
i think nowadays FWB is normal and a lot of people just want a casual relationship. some women just want money from the guy seriously they just want to rely on them all the way and they just love it when their bf buys them everything they want. but its so shallow like they say I LOVE YOU BABY becuase they get everything from their bf. those guys are kinna foolish too. I personally don't really want the guy to pay for me for everything. i mean if they want to, go ahead but i just don't really feel like they need to pay for everything. and yes i think women and men are equal and people think that way it's just that i guess those are the successful smart people.

has she got $$ in her eye balls? :-), you got to watch out for female like that, because they usually very selfish, self centered and $$ oriented. Nothing interest in their lives but $$. By sticking with the shallow person like that makes you just as shallow. Good job you calling this relationship off, as it might safe you life and money too by doing that! gold diggers usually have one intention only...($$$$)they can also kill someone for money especially partners,parents. They have nothing inside and up there, and usually using their look for bait in order to gain their wealth and feed their greed!
