Questions about double majoring?

I'm planning on majoring in computer science, but I would like to double major with German as well. Will this extend my supposed four years in college? Will it add to my tuition fees?
I am aware that it is advisable that I minor in German instead, but I would very much prefer the former.
Also, I have a friend studying in Heriott-Watt, for a combined Bachelor's and Master's degree in Accounting, and she's going to complete the programme after she's done a total of four years. My question is, is it a common practice to do both Bachelor's and Master's all at once? I suppose it's a different story with computer science, but oh come on, I can't suppress my curiosity at this point. C:

Whether or not double majoring in CS and German will extend your "four years" depends on how many additional credits the German program requires. At the very least, you'll have to take a few more classes per semester than the average student. I would suggest finding out what courses are needed to take to major in German (from your school's website or through an advisor) and how many more credits you'll need.

As for adding to tuition fees: most probably yes. Since you're taking more classes, your cost of tuition will slightly be a bit higher (assuming your school computes tuition by number of classes taken at the tuition rate determined by whichever department(s) you're in).

I know some schools that offer a program which allows students to study for a Bachelor and Master's at the same time. You'll have to check if your school offers something like that, and if it's available for CS. I wouldn't necessarily say it's "common practice", but such a program seems to have become a bit more popular these days.
