Islam isn't violent, Islam is peace?

Treat people kindly and friendly
Muslims are commanded by God to treat people; of all beliefs and cultures; friendly, kindly, and peacefully unless they fight us on our religion or they occupy our lands and drive us away from our homes
In the Quran, Holy book of Islam, God has said (meaning English Translation):
" God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers." (Quran, chapter 60/ verse 8)
Even in time of war, Prophet Muhammad (peace upon him) used, in any military conflict, to prohibit soldiers from killing women, children, old people, or any civilian. He would advise them: {...Do not betray, do not be excessive, do not kill a newborn child.} And he also said: {Whoever has killed a person having a treaty with the Muslims shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise, though its fragrance is found for a span of forty years.}
Also, the Prophet Muhammad (peace upon him) listed murder as the second of the major sins (the first major sin is denying the oneness of God), and he even warned that on the Day of Judgment, {The first cases to be adjudicated between people on the Day of Judgment will be those of bloodshed.}
Be kind even to animals
Muslims are even encouraged to be kind to animals and are forbidden to hurt them.
Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace upon him) said: {A woman was punished because she imprisoned a cat until it died. On account of this, she was doomed to Hell. While she imprisoned it, she did not give the cat food or drink, nor did she free it to eat the insects of the earth.}
He also said that a man gave a very thirsty dog a drink, so God forgave his sins for this action. The Prophet was asked, "Messenger of God, are we rewarded for kindness towards animals?" He said: {There is a reward for kindness to every living animal or human.}
Be forgiving
One of the main teachings in Islam is to forgive people in order to be forgiven by God. The concept of forgiveness and tolerance is one of the most fundamental tenets of Islam.
Quran says (meaning English translation):
"Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish (i.e don't count on their doings" (Quran, chapter 7, verse 199)
Also, Quran says:
"A good action and a bad action are not the same. Repel the bad with something better and, if there is enmity between you and someone else, he will be like a bosom friend." (Quran, chapter 41, verse 34)
God has always described forgiveness as a superior quality and, in one verse, He promised that such behavior will be rewarded. This Quran verse is:
"The repayment of a bad action is one equivalent to it. But if someone pardons and puts things right, his reward is with God. Certainly He does not love wrongdoers." (Quran, chapter 42, verse 40)
In another Quran verse, God describes whom He loves.
"those who give in times of both ease and hardship, those who control their rage and pardon other people - God loves the good-doers"
(Quran, chapter 3, verse 134)
From the above it is understood that Islam calls Muslims to show forgiveness, tolerance, and rebelling the bad with better saying and better doing when dealing with people regardless their beliefs, cultures, colors, etc
Do more than as you would done by
It is not enough ' Do as you would done by' but you must give in full what it due from you, whether you expect or wish to receive full consideration from the other side or not. Quran says(English meaning translation): " Woe to those that deal in fraud" (Quran, chapter 83, verse 1)
Respect all other religions
Muslims are commanded to believe in all God prophets and in all God holy books and to accept and respect all other religions, cultures, and races.
Quran says (Meaning English translation):
"There is no compulsion in religion..." (Quran, Chapter 2, Verse 256)
This statement above is supported by another Quran saying (with meaning English translation):
"...If God had willed, He would have made you all in one nation and one religion), but that He (God) left you in different religions to compete in good deeds and society benefits. The return of all of you is to God; then He (God) will inform you about that in which you differ"
(Quran, Chapter 5, Verse 48)
Be honest
Be honest with God, your self, your marriage partner, relatives and friends, work boss and coworkers, society and community, and environment. .
更新1:

Enough to say the following here: the following here: to be honest with parents requires you: to be grateful to them to respect their views and advices to be kind to them when they get old to take care of them when they get old to help them when they get old to keep smiling to be honest with your relatives and friends requires you: to keep good contact and communication with them to offer help and sincere advice when needed not to lie to them to be honest with boss and coworkers requires you: to be sincere to work to observe your work quality not to cheat to keep good social contacts with them to keep smiling to be honest with your society and community requires you: to respect other religions and cultures to give charities to who they need to voluntarily help in community development to accept opposite views to spread peace and love to spread justice to be honest with environment requires you: to use friendly environment materials and energy sources not to cut a tree to help spreadi

I say to those who extract ayahs/verses out of their historical and textual texts to read Islam from Islam or you will be mislead very easily.

Once, one asked about this ayah once :

Then when the Sacred Months (the Ist, 7th, 11th, and 12th months of the Islâmic calendar) have passed, then kill the Mushrikûn (see V.2:105) wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and lie in wait for them in each and every ambush...(9:5) Quran

and the reply is this:

and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islâm) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah[] with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. (9 : 29)

this is when muslims enter a country, they do not force jews and christians to enter islam. after that, they are free to do their rituals (as you can see them in Arabia since the time of prophet Mohammad pbuh until now) and they are protected by the muslims and they can't go to war with them. for these services, they pay the jizyah as mentioned in the ayah.

as for 9:5 it is talking about when Mohammad pbuh entered mecca because pagans broke the treaty called "Sulh Al-Hudaibiah" and Allah swt gave them 4 months (as you can see in the previous ayah 9:2 or else they will be fought and killed as you can see in this ayah. BUT, Allah swt says:

Except those of the Mushrikûn (see V.2:105) with whom you have a treaty, and who have not subsequently failed you in aught, nor have supported anyone against you. So fulfill their treaty to them for the end of their term. Surely Allâh loves Al- Mattaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2). (9: 4)

then Allah swt says in 9:6 : And if anyone of the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) seeks your protection then grant him protection, so that he may hear the Word of Allâh (the Qur'ân), and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men who know not. (9: 6)

it does not apply on all periods because it is for a certain period of time and a certain event and Allah swt says :

Allâh does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion nor drove you out of your homes. Verily, Allâh loves those who deal with equity. (60: 8)

As for those who extract ayahs that does not have historical and textual contexts, well, there is a whole *fair* fighting system in Islam where its really abundantly explained in Islamic authentic books. Alas! few chose to mislead themselves and others because of bigotry and hate.

May Allah swt guide us all....ameeen

Why do Muslims write these long essays that take up half the screen? Has anybody else noticed that?

Islam might not be violent but many of its followers are. If Muslims are violent then the religion is violent no matter what your good book says.

Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith.

And that's why militant Muslims kill so many people, right? Because they're peaceful and non-violent?

This is the west. You cannot baffle us with BS and expect us to shut up about it.

Usagi, for the same reason many Christians reply with page long copy & pastes of their scriptures. They hope to convince themselves since no one actually stops to read any of that nonsense.

It's long-winded, that's for sure.

If it takes that many words to tell a simple truth it's got to be a lie.

And, yes, I have witnessed it first hand.

Islam is peaceful, but there are some Muslims who think that they are so religious that they have to kill whoever leaves the religion or offends it and stuff

I really hate what happened in the Middle East after that movie, "Innocence of the Muslims"
