Depends upon her dependent status, filing status, and the source of the income. If she's your dependent and her only income was earned income from employment the filing threshold is $5,950 for 2012. If she earned less she must file if there's an amount in box 2 of her W-2 and she wants that refunded to her.

here's the IRS site, you should be able to find it there since i'm sure it changes from time to time. BUT... i'm pretty sure they often recommend you file anyway, since you're likely to get something back. and it's FREE.
