Can someone make an excuse for me?

This person has been leaving me voicemails, and I just don't want to talk to that person over voice; however, I'd rather exchange emails with that person. I already have the email address of that person, and I'm planning to write that person an email. What kind of excuse for not returning that person's call but rather send an email?
