Recently,some Hong Kong employers have claimed that they prefer to employ local graudates rather than the students who have just graduated from overseas universities.For me,it is very hard to understand why they would have such thought in their mind.I am not saying that overseas graudates are better than local graduates . However,it is obvious that the students who have once studied in a foreign country who will have some advantages over local students which will be mentioned thoroughly as follows. Please read on.

I hope that employers can change their mind that overseas students are also a good choice after reading this article.

First of all,in terms of English proficiency,there is an undeniable fact that most of the overseas students no matter their writing or speaking ablity are much better than the locals because they have a greater chance to use English as the day-to-day communication language.Yet, in Hong Kong where cantonese is the widely-used language among Hongkongers,students are lack of chance to practice their English frequently.Under this circumstance ,overseas students are regarded more valuable than local students.

Besides,the local students are labeled who have less globalisation horizons. Although Hong Kong is considered as an international city, the population here is primarily chiness or cantoness, cannot provide local students with the knowledge of different culture or customs.(這一段有點混亂) companies.(這一段有點混亂)

Lastly,I understand that the reason for employers not considering overseas students as their first pirority is that they think those who seek to study abroad are not qualified to enter local universities. It may be true that we should not use the results of public examinations as a sole criterion to determine whether they are good or bad . In the years of studying abroad, things will change and employers should catch up with the world.

Besides, the students who confine in Hong Kong will have less (international horizon這是中文). Hong Kong, although considered []an international city, the population here are primarily Chinese or Cantonese, cannot provide local students with the knowledge of different culture or customs. On the contrary, overseas students meet more people than the locals do, they know the customs and taboos of foreigners which can help their employers to deal well with overseas clients and thus enhancing the image and reputation of the companies
Lastly, I understand that the reason for employers not considering overseas students as their priority to choose from is that they think those who seek to study abroad are not good enough to enter local universities. It may be true to some extent, however, we should not use public examination as the sole criterion to determine their ability. In their years of studying abroad, things will change and employers should change too.
