do animals have fear?

my cat walked on the edge of our roof and didnt think twice.
do animals have no such thing as fear?

sorry I meant specifically fear of heights.

Most of them have fear, when things are dangerous for them. Your cat wasn't in any danger, even if your cat fell, he/she wouldn't be hurt bad. Cats are amazing and graceful that way. That is why people say that they have nine lives.

A dog might have fear of heights, but that is because they aren't graceful, they can't climb, and they would be hurt if they fell.

Yes, they do. Some animals fear more than others. For example some dogs are scared of fireworks and some aren't. Cats wouldn't really have a fear of heights if they know there territory. For instance on your roof if it fell off it is most likely to land on its feet. But if it is unknown like a cat stuck up a tree it is not sure about how to get down.

Animals do have fear, however cats have an extremely good balance, and cats can survive a fall from a higher altitude than humans.

Of course. My dog won't walk at night (there's coyotes around). My dog will walk much faster if another dog is barking behind it's fence in a yard.
