外國人說 "燈" 會怎樣說 ? 雖然我知是 lamp , 但和 light的分別是什麼? 是不是任何燈都可以叫做 lamp?

In kindergarten, pupils are taught to raise their hands with 1 finger pointing up, to mean they want to go to the washroom to pee, or with 2 fingers up, to mean they want to go to poo.

"light" can be used to represent any lights, whereas "lamp" can not.
For example, we can point to a lamp and say "please turn on the light", but we cannot point to a ceiling light and say "please turn on the lamp".

拖鞋...用slipper這詞比較安全 (百搭).

sandals...有人認為指涼鞋, 但也有人叫sandals做拖鞋.

人字拖 (腳趾夾著那種), 也可以用 flip-flop 或 thong sandal / thongs...
不過, thong 也可以指內褲, 容易產生歧異.

"thong sandal" 就表達得很清楚, 指人字/夾趾涼鞋或拖鞋.

當然, 叫人字拖做 slipper, 大概不會有人說用錯詞語.
