Intensive English Program
THE IEP CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The Intensive English Program offers 25 hours of class instruction each week in all skill areas. The IEP meets the specific language needs of students, particularly those preparing for study at a U.S. college or university. Classes are small and are taught by highly qualified faculty. Special classes and extracurricular activities increase students' opportunities for learning and developing their skills.
IEP students seeking admission to the University at Buffalo or another U.S. college or university receive academic advisement and assistance with applications.
A REPUTATION FOR QUALITY AND EXCELLENCE
The largest and most comprehensive English language institute in the State University of New York (SUNY), the ELI has trained more than 23,000 students from more than 100 countries since 1971. Over the years, many ELI graduates have referred colleagues, friends, and family members to the IEP; in fact, some of those who studied English in the program in its early years have sent their university-age children to the ELI.
The excellent reputation of the program worldwide is also due to the ELI's presence overseas through branch programs it has developed over the past 25 years in Bosnia, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Latvia, Malaysia, Sweden, and Taiwan.
The IEP at ELI is fully accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA), which is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a reliable authority concerning the quality of education or training offered by the English language institutions and programs it accredits. The ELI is also a longstanding member of the leading professional associations of IEPs in the U.S.— the Consortium of University and College Intensive English Programs (UCIEP) and the American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP).
