Light music has a strong melody, an interesting musical setting--a unique counter-melody, counter-rhythms, re-harmonization, interesting chord progression, a sense of balance and contrast. It usually contains broadly romantic themes, happy pizzicato and string fantasias, clever novelty pieces, tuneful marches, or jazz-influenced sophisticated arrangements.
