Green light on monitor flashes on and off with a black screen. It will eventually say no video input check..?
video cable. I tried the monitor out on my laptop and it worked fine its just on the desktop that Im having problems with. I was thinking of trying it in another PCI slot but it is a slower PCI slot. I dont know the risks in that though.
It is a low spec PC that I have had for a few years. The only thing I changed was the PSU a year ago which is 650w.
The connector cable is a VGA.
Im seriously not sure how it has got to this point were I am finding it hard to get anything on the screen from my desktop. Its been like this for a couple of days. I give up any ideas?

Does not sound like an issue with the monitor (since it works on your laptop) but with the PC itself. It is not booting to the point where it sends anything to the monitor so it never gets any signal (thus the "no signal" message.)
If the PC has both a build in video port and an add on port, the video may have gotten moved to the other video port. If you only have one video port, the card may have gone bad. You can try moving it to another PCI port as a way of testing it.
You can also check to see if the PC itself is actually booting. If the PC is booting but the display is just not working, you will be able to press keys such as the Cap Lock or the Num Lock on your keyboard and see the lights that indicates their stage turn on or off. If that happens, the PC is working but the video is not. If the lights on the keyboard do not change, then the PC itself is not booting.
I believe the final answer. if it boots in risk-free mode and works superb, then the drivers are the subject. you will might desire to deploy the drivers (even possibly locate the inf record for the motive force after uninstalling and deleting the record) and then deploy a clean one. if that doesn't artwork, something is going incorrect with the video card (is it integrated or a separate card?) is this homestead windows XP? 2000?
The easiest guess is the monitor settings on the pc are too high.
Or switched if multiple, then again too high....
Then moving to drivers....
Burned card etc...
