A solid metal square pyramid P is melted and recast into another solid square pyramid Q. The side of the base of pyramid Q is twice that of pyramid P. If the heights of pyramid P and pyramid Q are hp and hq respectively, find hp:hq.

Let the base of square pyramid P = b ,
then the base of square pyramid Q = 2b.
Square pyramid P = Square pyramid Q
(1/3) b² hp = (1/3) (2b)² hq ...Vol. = (1/3)(base square area)(height)
b² hp = 4b² hq
hp = 4 hq

hp : hq = 4 : 1
