The meaning of "In Tandem"?

2012-11-21 3:57 pm
Does it mean:
1) at the same time
or
2) one behind the other
?
It would be confusing to say "let's do the two projects in tandem",
coz some people might think we are doing them at the same time,
while some people might think we are doing it one after the other.

So which one is the true meaning?
Please Help! Thanks!

Please be Sure you know what you're answering,
coz i dun want any unsure answers or materials copied directly from the internet.
Thanks a lot guys !

to me (UK here)in tandem means together or with someone.
"We'll be working in tandem for the time being"suggests to me working together.

It means doing them at the same time. It suggests a connection between the two. If you want to say that we'll do them at the same time but not connect them, then say that we will do them in parallel.

No native speaker with any business experience would expectt that it means doing one and then the other.

Yes, a tandem bicycle puts one person in front of the other, but don't let that confuse you.
