1.In a basketball game, your team is two points behind and there are only a few seconds before the end of the game. You are the best player, and you have the ball now. You can take a shot from three-point land or move up and take on from two-point land.Historically, you have a 40% probability of getting the shot in from three-point hand and a 70% probability of getting the shot in form two-point land.

Should you try for the three-point shot, or should you try for the two-point shot? Note that a two-pointer produces a tie and puts you into overtime. We assume your team has a fifty-fifty chance of winning in overtime.

1)P(try for the three-point shot to win)
= 40%P(try for the two-point shot to win)
= P(produces a tie and winning in overtime)
= 70% * 50%
= 35%I should try for the three-point shot since it gives a bigger chance to win.
