driver's license的文法

driver要加's 表示所有格 - 駕駛者"的"執照. 不過 driver license 也通行. 例如加州的監理所 (http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/dl.htm) 就用 driver license. 馬里蘭州的監理所 (http://www.mva.maryland.gov/Driver-Services/Apply/license.htm) 用 driver's license.

名詞+名詞, 稱為複合名詞, 前者修飾後者.
如果chef license, magician license, fisherman license都可以, 那麼driver license當然也可以.

Driver license, drivers license and driver's license are all correct. It is very clear that they mean the same thing. They are used variably in different states or countries.

因為是"駕車者的"(執照)。所以開車時，該執照一定要帶在身上，才不違法。又稱為Driving License.

就是因為driver license中的driver必須是作形容詞用，才引起爭議 -- driver 不應該作形容詞用的。
