A water droplet behaves like a convex lens. A student puts a water droplet on a piece of graph paper and observes the paper through it from above

Compared with the piece of graph paper, is its image further away from or nearer to the water droplet? Why?

The image is located further away from the water droplet, but is magnified.

The reason is that the droplet acts like a semi-spherical convex lens. Light rays coming from the paper bend away from the normal, and hence the image appears at a further distance away.
