By direct substitution, x3 - 28x + 48 = 0 when x = 2

Hence by factor theorem, x - 2 is a factor of x3 - 28x + 48 and by long division:

x3 - 28x + 48 = (x - 2)(x2 + 2x - 24)

= (x - 2)(x + 6)(x - 4)

x3 - 28x + 48 = (x - 2)(x2 + 2x - 24)

= (x - 2)(x + 6)(x - 4)

x^3-28x+48
=(x-2)(x^2+2x-24)
=(x-2)(x-4)(x+6)
