In an experiment for diffusion, liquid bromine is placed in the bottom of a gas jar, the gas jar is then covered. The bromine liquid quickly vaporized.
Any one know why the bromine liquid quickly vaporized?

Bromine has molecular structure. At room conditions, the bromine molecules (Br2) in liquidbromine are attracted by their neigbouring bromine molecules by weak van derWaals forces. Therefore, it is easy for brominemolecules to absorb a small amount of energy to overcome the weak intermolecularvan der Waals forces and then escape to become vapour.

As Br2 has a low boiling point, even lower than water

The boiling point of Br is 58.8 degree C

since that, Br2 will EVAPORATE easily at room temperature

Something to remind you: the situation you have told is EVAPORATION

because it EVAPORATE at room temperature but not VAPORIZE at boiling point.

because it EVAPORATE > because it EVAPORATES
