The energy obtained from one gram of Uranium 235 is 8.28x10^10J. The energy obtained
from one barrel of crude oil and 1 ton of bituminous coal are respectively 6.12x10^9J and 2.81x10^10 J. About 20.0 QBtu of coal per year is used to generate electricity in the U.S. If all the energy in the U.S. is to be obtained from uranium. How many grams of Uranium 235 are used per year, and how many grams are used to generate electricity?

✔ 最佳答案
1 QBTU = 1.055 x 10^18 J
Hence, 20 QBTU = 20 x 1.055 x 10^18 J = 2.11 x 10^19 J
Mass of uranium needed = 2.11x10^19/8.28x10^10 g
= 2.55 x 10^8 g
