I watched the Movie - "Lord of the Flies" in class, and these are the questions that I cannot answer. My answers are suppposed to be a couple of paragraphs long, so any suggestions are helpful.
1. What are some reasons that society has a need for government?
2. What are some symbols of government, control, power, and human nature (such as evil, compassion, intellect...) that are portrayed in the movie?
3. What are your reasons for choosing those symbols?

1. Without government, it would become anarchy, which leads to chaos. Only few people can still act civil without supervision, like Ralph. This reminds me of a dialogue in the movie "The Mist".
Amanda Dunfrey: People are basically good; decent. My god, David, we're a civilized society.
David Drayton: Sure, as long as the machines are working and you can dial 911. But you take those things away, you throw people in the dark, you scare the **** out of them - no more rules.

2.government: adults
power: blood and black stripes on their faces
human nature: intellect: using tools (glass, knife)
