Put the heavy object into the water,with the foam plastic still out of the water, and record the volume reading ofwater (i.e. Vo). Then, put thefoam plastic as well as the heavy object in the water, and record again the volumereading (i.e. V1). The volumeof the foam plastic is thus the difference between the two volume readings(i.e. V1 - Vo).

Wrap the piece of foam tightly using a thin plastic sheet (like the kitchen plastic wrap 保鮮紙). Squeeze firmly to expell all trapped air. Put the wrapped foam into a beaker full of water. Measure the water outflow using a measuring cylinder, which gives the volume of the foam piece.
