Hi!
Yesterday, my friend stole my drink without me knowing and drank out of it. The drink had a straw. I didn't know if I should drink out of it so I just left it by itself for a couple minutes. But I paid for that drink and I didn't want to waste it so I got another straw and switched out the one he used to drink out of it and threw it away. My question is: could i get a disease from sharing drinks but using a different straw??? Like herpes, or something???
PLEASE HELP!!!
THANKS!!!!

I agree w/the first 2 people--sharing drinks isn't a good idea. If someone had Herpes (cold sores), you could get it. Same for several other diseases like Hepatitis and the common cold.

Another thing to remember when at parties (with NON-friends) is never to accept an open drink! IT could have anything in it, from Rufis to acid.

Ask your friend if he/she has any diseases, if you're really worried, and then tell them to stop taking your drinks!

Probably not, unless he let some of the drink run back into the cup after sucking it up.
Even then, not too likely.
Diseases commonly spread by sharing drinks are the common cold, flu, and mononucleosis. It is also possible to catch measles, mumps, chickenpox, and rubella this way, but hardly anybody gets these diseases anymore because of vaccination.

I never share drinks. If the person drinks off it i tell them to keep it.
