the area of a square with side x cm is equal to that of a rectangle with length (3x+2) cm and width (x-3) cm . find the length of each side of the square.

Area of the square = Area of the rectanglex² = (3x + 2)(x - 3)
x² = 3x² - 7x - 6
2x² - 7x - 6 = 0
x = [7 ± √(7² + 4*2*6)] / (2*2)
x = (7 + √97)/4 or x = (7 - √97)/4 (rejected)
Length of each side of the square = (7 + √97)/4 cm ≈ 4.21 cm
