someone accidentally hurt my dog while "playing" with him - $125 vet bill!?

a friend was playing rough with my 3 month old puppy, the next day the dog was showing signs of pain on his underbelly, left side, would cry when picked up and try to nip, and also vomiting (could be stress related) - I took him to the vet and it cost me $125! would you tell your friend? I feel like I am accusing him, but I just want him to know so he doesn't play so rough with the dog next time he is here.

I allowed it because I am a rookie pet owner and never thought he was being that rough, but when the dog woke up the next day feeling that way, I realized it was too rough. I have never had a dog so I thought the dog was ok and it seemed like he was having fun playing so I thought if he didn't like it he would not keep going back to the friend who was playing with him like that. I am going to tell him.

Please don't judge - all of you saying "why on earth did you allow it?" have you never made a mistake? The person who was playing rough has two grown dogs so I thought he knew what he was doing. I never had a dog before, so I wasn't aware that this was too rough. If I was, I would've stopped it immediately, we love our puppy. If we didn't why would I have taken him to the vet? Let's stop the finger pointing and just answer the question. Thanks.

H*** yes I would tell him. He needs to know that he cannot play rough with the pup.

If he is a good friend he will understand and next time he will not play with the dog so rough.... In my place I would tell him.

Yes, I would tell him. My friend was over, she also owns a bull terrier, and was playing rough. He hurt his tail. I had to bring him to the Vet's. I was P O at her and did not talk to her for 6 months. She knew better.

Tell him to be careful and tell him how much it cost you! He should then feel guilty and offer to pay at least some of the vet bill!
