Why is he staring at me?

This guy is my classmate in uni. We are not close at all but he suddenly chats me up on Facebook and asked me random questions about our assignments. But he doesn't talk to me about stuff other than schoolwork. Ever since then whenever we run into each other in school he'll stare at me, and when our eyes meet, i'd wave hi and he'd say hi, then he'll bow his head down and simply walk away without talking to me. AND he doesn't smile at all whenever he sees me, but again, he's not the kind of person who smiles all the time. I'm so confused!!! Why is this guy acting all weird?

He likes you if im not wrong. it freaks me out to see how similar these actions are to mine (im a socially awkward guy) to a girl that i liked in school lol (i already gave up though). i would try to strike up a convo sometimes in msn but because I dont know her well i can only talk about school work.. and somehow i just cant get myself to maintain eye contact, maybe its cos i liked her, but sometimes i unknowingly stare at her too. and i try to avoid her as much as i can physically cos its just awkward when you have to face someone you like. according to my analysis he does like you, but hes a very shy guy. he seems like a nice guy, so don't misinterpret him the way the girl i liked probably did haha, and just try to be friendly to him. just sharing a little perspective from the guys side

Just confront him and be blunt, see what he says.
