✔ 最佳答案
句子描述的時間若為過去,其主動詞(main verb)需作過去時態,而句子中其他作用的動詞則不一定。以你所列例句而言,主動詞「go」 成為了「went」,輔動詞「eat」則作「to-infinitive」形式,以表達「went」的具體內容,所以不會寫成過去式的「ate」。

Workout 是一個字, 是 noun, workout = 訓練;練習
一句句子既時間過去左, 事件發生在過去時間, 主動詞 (main verb) 要用 past tense, 包括 simple past (ate), past continuous (was/were eating), past perfect (had eaten), 或 past perfect continuous (had been eating)

To 後面的 verb, 正常是用 base form of the verb, 不用轉 past tense (不是 eats, ate, eaten, 是 eat) Infinitive with “to”

After workout, he wanted to eat Pizza.

小心, to 可作 preposition,
We look forward to seeing you. (to 在這裡是 preposition) 這句子是 present tense

還有 infinitive without “to” (bare infinitive) 不用轉 past tense

He made me do it. (He made me to do it; 刪除 to 字)

She let the children leave early yesterday. (沒有 to字; let 是 past tense)
She allowed the children to leave early yesterday. (有 to字, infinitive with “to”)

Let 的 past tense 和 past participle 都是 let, 不用加 –ed 或轉 form)

I had the porter bring up the your bags. (沒有 to字, infinitive without “to”)
I got the porter to bring up your bags.

其他的例子 infinitive without “to”
Someone saw the thief leave the building. (沒有 to)
I felt the earth move. (沒有 to)

只要記得什麼 verbs 是用 infinitive without “to”

Past tense means past(adj) ;gone by in time;in past hours;in time past;
eg:-After work,we went to eat pizza.(Don't use workout;but use long working hours)
Sometimes the past tense is not used.
eg:-The time for (summer holidays) discussion is past.
----- When gone by recently ; just ended:-
------eg:-I haven't seen her recently.
------eg:-The past month just ended has been really busy at playing and swimming.
Here (grammar)connected with the form of a verb used to express actions in the past by the "present perfect tense",because it is nearly the recent past.
Other Idiomatic usage:-In some sports you are past it by the age of 20(ie swimming)
----That overcoat is looking decidedly past its age.
----I used to go there often in the past.
----Writing letters seems to be a thing of the past.
