1.
c-5/6+3=2-c/8
c+13/6=2-c/8
24c+52=48-3c
27c=-4
c=-4/27
2.
Let $x be the cost of the cheaper cat and $y be the cost of the more expensive cat.
y-x=3---1
100-(7-3)x-3y=7---2
From 1, y=3+x---3
Sub. 3 into 2,
100-21x-9-3x=7
-24x=-84
x=3.5
Sub. x=3.5 into 3, y=3+3.5=6.5
∴The cost of the cheaper cat is $3.5 and the cost of the more expensive cat is $6.5.
3.
Let $x be the original number of glass beads.
x-x/2-x/6-x7=16
4x/21=16
x=84
∴The original number of glass beads is 84.
