Five times a certain number minus 4 is equal to 3 times that number plus 12. Find the number.

Let x be the number5x – 4 = 3x + 12
5x – 3x = 12 +4
2z = 16
x = 16/2
x = 8
The number is 8
Check:
5(8) – 4 = 3(8) + 12
36 = 24 + 12
36 = 36
