I've had a filling done today, but daren't eat?

I had my filling done at 3.15 today, & was told I could eat soft foods 30-45 minutes later. Its now been nearly 3 and a half hours, & my face is still numb, but I daren't eat? I've never had a filling before, & when I run my tongue over the filling it feels like a gritty bubblegum feeling? Is this normal?

yes of course it's normal I've had at least 5 fillings throughout my life and it always feels the same, the numbing is really annoying at first I know, but you can still eat. I suggest if you drink, use a straw and eat soft foods, the numbing should go in another half an hour or so and the filling will stop feeling gritty after a day and a bit

It's very normal, and the numbness will last a while....stick to soft foods, you're better off.
