題目是一個問句，在空格部分是動詞know的受詞，如果原來是倒裝過的問句，用在這裡當受詞時，應改回成直述句的結構（即間接問句）。B. C, D都是問句的結構，所以都不適用。只有選項A是（主詞＋動詞），這個問句和間接問句的結構相同，不必再加以改變，所以只能選A。

放到空格裡後，在文法上，A裡的what會從問句裡的［疑問代名詞］變成了［帶先行詞的關係代名詞］，what = the thing which。所以就不再是問句，而成了名詞子句。Do you know what has happeded to Martin. = Do you know the thing which has happened to Martin.後者就成了the thing當動詞know的受詞，後面再加上一個形容詞子句當thing的修飾語。

按照趙振才著＜英語常見問題大詞典＞朗出版，第1074頁，who1的說法，則選項B也是正確答案，因為who可以分析為主詞補語或主詞，如果視為主詞，則無需變化，即可用作另一個正確的答案。例句：Can you tell me who is that gentleman? 和Can you tell me who that gentleman is?都正確。
所以這題有爭議。有兩個答案正確：A, B。

名詞子句的主詞較長時，會移往動詞之後，造成間接問句變成直接問句：
I am not sure what the point is.
I am not sure what is the point of spending hours and hours discussing this.
這是符合尾重原則，長和複雜的文字通常放在句尾較自然。

所以Do you know who is that gentleman at the door?
比Do you know who that gentleman at the door is?較自然。兩者都是正確的。
這題也可以選此為答案。

因為這是間接問句，主要子句裡的主詞和動詞要互換位置 ，wh問句遇到助動詞do/ does/did要省略；Yes/No問句則助動詞do/does/did改if / whether
A what就是主詞，置於動詞組has happened之前正確
B.who is that man at the door
應改為who that man at the door is
C.how can we make our English better
應改為how we can make our English better
D.where does he live in America
應改為where he lives in America.
