Ideally Romantic love should only Happen Once in life and then it is sublime and special to the individuals.If it is unrequited then it is very painful but does not stop the unfortunate victim from falling just as deeply for someone new. I think for many people Romantic love can and does happen several times in life and for others it never happens. In some cultures the concept of romantic love does not exist as a man will love his mother more than his wife who he considers to be his property.
Of course other forms of love exist such as parental etc but I assume you mean Romantic love.
