I was thinking about planning a trip for next year and I don't know whether Lake Powell or Lake Havasu is better. I'm planning on going with a few buddies.

Much depends on your primary interests. Though both are great for boating, swimming, fishing, water skiing, etc., there are differences.

Lake Powell is huge and much more scenic and also offers more in the way of hiking, camping and a more laid-back type of experience. Lake Havasu is more of an attraction for the younger crowds and the lake (as well as, the city of Lake Havasu) is much busier/crowded, especially during the summer months.

I've been to both and I prefer Lake Powell but I would imagine you and your buddies might prefer Lake Havasu.
