Whats the longest you had a used car you bought, before it broke down the first time?

I'm trying to figure out, say if i ended up buying a lemon car for $100 and the car had problems already, but it still ran for the time being & i was just planing on driving it to work, 5 days a week, 5 miles there and plus another 5 miles back, totaling to 50 miles a week and 200 miles a month. How long you think it be before this lemon car started to brake down more or less. and thats just considering i'd only be using it for a work car. How long you think?

Preventive maintenance is how you keep your used car on the road. Then it will never break down. Do you live in a state with out regular auto inspections or what? If it does not pass inspection it does not go on the road.

For $100, you cannot expect much more than scap metal, and when you mention problems already, these could be fatal problems. So I would say that you should expect the end to come at any time. And it probably will not be everything at once, there will be many things that you can live with or for only a few dollars worth of parts can keep going. But at some npoint, you will probably just give up.

On the other hand, I once bought a car for $50.00 that was literally full of leaves, that I drove for 2years and sold for $350.
