I personally don't think it's appropriate to name a child after a Greek God or Goddess whether real or not..as they are just that.. Gods and Goddesses.I prefer the spelling Christine and but overall I think Kristine its a lot better.

Athena is the name of a god. It's like naming your kid Zeus.

Athena seems very goddess-like, regal almost while Kristine seems more fun and bubbly.

I LOOOVE the name Athena. It's so pretty uncommon, but not weird. I'm not to big on Kristine because it's a little old fashioned and I knew a girl named that and everybody called her Kristen. Although, the nickname Krissy is really cute. :)

I think Athena is pretty and has a "strong woman" sort of feeling to it, which is neat. But at the same time, as the person above said, there's that whole stigma of using a name from Greek mythology.
Kristine is nice; the simple change of spelling is interesting but not outrageous. Though technically, it's also derived from a mythological name, so can't really say which of the two is better.

I LOVE the name Athena it's adorable, i love it, it's one of the names my parents were considering for my new baby sibling if she happens to be a girl, but they now narrowed it down to Willow and Melody.

I like the name Athena better, it's not as common as Kristine in my opinion, for names: Selena, Melina, Lina, Adriana, Ariana, Christina, Sabrina, Alaina, Carina, Catarina, Katrina, that's all i got!
