I like Miranda better, but only a little. I think either one would be a good. I think the only way Miranda is pronounced is Merrandah not Meerandah but if you want to make it unique, who am I to stop you? I know a girl whose name is spelled Megan but pronounced Meegan, so it happens I guess.
Some other sophisticated names are Elizabeth, Eliza, Jane, Sophia, Elinor/Eleanor, Samantha, Margaret, Danielle, Anaïs, Marie, Victoria, Anna, Amelia, etc. I suggest you go to babynameaddicts.com and search for names there. I'm sure you can find something.

I love Miranda! It's such a pretty and timeless name. Athena just reminds me of the Greek goddess plus it's not so pretty if you really think about it.
