you like living in Hong Kong nowadays or in the past？

Hong Kong has transformed from a tiny fishing port to one of the strongest free-market society. And I would like to live in Hong Kong nowadays rather than the past. Allow me to further explain the reasons.

Firstly, Hong Kong nowadays is one of the safest places around the Earth. Our crime rates are low. Comparing to the past, when Hong Kong was still a small village, governments are corrupted, and poverty was everywhere. There were lots of thieves back then. Living in the past will make me feel insecure.

Secondly, today’s Hong Kong has a better quality of life. We can see skyscrapers everywhere. We were surrounded by different shops, malls, cinemas, cars, etc. Surrounded by high technology: computers, mobile phones, apple products… These cannot be found in the past, life would be a lot harder and boring back then.

However, our glory in Hong Kong now is all based on our past, history is unchangeable. Therefore, even though I like living in Hong Kong now because of better security and quality of life, I respect the past.
