convincing parents to let me live on campus freshmen year?

I'm graduating high school and moving on up to college. I am so exited to get this college experience, but there's a slight issue when it comes to my housing. My mother wont let me move out to the dorms. I have been told by so many that this is the best way to work your way into new friend groups (which i REALLY want) and that it is necessary to get a real freshmen experience.

I have told her about higher gpa due to closeness to college-- i live a mile down the road, my moms not biting.

my father is paying for tuition and fasfa can cover most of housing--- she told me to save the money for a new car

studies showing lower suicide rates-- im not depressed, she thinks im being ridiculous.

I can met so many new people-- she told me to join a club or sorority. then i can stay home with laundry and free food, but meet new people.

all of her points are good, and is logical, and makes sense. I'm a college freshmen. its sort of the point to makes mistakes and have new, exiting experiences. I want to meet new people and enjoy campus living, but i just don't know how to change this woman's mind.

any ideas?
And do you think i should just follow her advice? I want to do this, i really do. but im still uncertain.

Honestly when you live that close to campus it doesn't make any sense for you to live on campus. You can still meet new people you just have to get involved and join a club or two. However before you graduate I think it is important to live away from home because it is part of the learning experience and teaches you how to be more of an individual.

It is reliable becouse you'll have a Proctor or RA on the floor to help with all points of learners's. She have to allow you to go and be taught on you're possess. She can not believe of you as the babby you once were. You're a younger grownup that wants to be trained to place you are foot down. That you can speak to the institution about this matter and they'll help. She are not able to manage you if you are at institution, so she needs you at house everynight so she can still be the mommy in you are lifestyles. How will you learn and be part of the university life when you have got to depart everynight to move dwelling.

so many things can happen at night on campus- meetings, clubs etc. You will be driving home late a night. Sorority- I am not a big fan of sororities. You can pay over $1000 per year in dues to join.
You are not going to be able to park very close to classroom buildings.
I am a parent and strongly believe a student should live on campus. But one mile away??? Many students live that far away and bike or walk to campus. I can kind of understand your mom's opinion.

You can try to compromise and live there one semester, then talk about it again.
Do you feel the cost is worth it? Did you do well, have a high GPA?

If you live that close to the college, then there's really no point of wasting money on housing and living at home. It's not "necessary" to get a freshman experience, you need to focus on your education. You can meet people without living on campus and also save a few thousand.
