Sorry previous poster but that'd only be correct of it was 2/x*1/x. 2/x*x is 2 because the two x's cancel. Also, to the second part of you're question, the x's would cancel with one being negative if they were added together, because a positive value plus it's negative value is 0, thus cancelled. As an example: 1+(-1) = 0. This is the same as writing out 1-1, which also equals 0. And to answer your main question, I'll attempt to draw it out clearly for you:

2 x
- * -
x 1

Here's the problem written out. (The 1 in the denominator is just a place holder.)

2x
-
x

This after you multiply the two numerators (2 and x) at the top of fraction together, and the two denominators (x and 1) at the bottom of the fraction. As you'll see here, you have an x in the numerator and an x in the denominator, none of which are binomials (not added or subtracted to any other value(s)).

2
-
1

The x's cancel out leaving with 2/1, which again simplies to just 2 because anything divided by 1 is the same value.

The problem would be written as so:
(2/x)•X. So if u put a number in for x it would be: If X=2. (2/2)*2 which is 1*2= 2

The Xs cancel out

You are dividing two by x, and then multiplying 2 by x. That leaves you with just two. If it's confusing then just substitute a number in for x. Ex. 2/2=1 1*2= 2 Ex. 2/4=.5 .5*4=2

2/x^2
