Crossing the border into Canada with samples for prescription drugs, is this ok?

I'm going to be taking a bus across the border into Canada on Wednesday, and I'm on a few prescriptions. I went to my doctor last Tuesday and since my COBRA had not been active yet, he gave me a months worth of samples for my thyroid and acid-reflux meds so I didn't have to buy them til my COBRA started up. So these are all in sample packs. I read that it wasn't a big deal getting thru the airport with them, but I heard they do a more thorough check of your things at the border and I'm wondering if they would not allow me to bring on medicine that was not in an RX bottle, and I really have to take these. Does anyone know if this would be a problem or not?

Leave them in their original packages. Bring a copy of the pertinent records in case you need to replace them while in Canada and can be useful if Customs needs information. It is not a problem if what you have is the required amount for your stay in Canada.

Bring any and all documentation from your doctor with you, and you shouldn't have a problem. The stuff you're carrying doesn't have a lot of street value like Oxycontin or Vicodin and such, so it probably won't be a big deal. As long as you have the prescrption documents in order (if anyone even asks), you should be just fine.
People bring valid prescription medication into the country all the time. As long as it's not narcotic painkillers in an unmarked plastic bag stuffed into an interesting orifice or hidden amongst your undies, it usually doesn't create a problem.

Those are just fine. there are no rules about carrying meds for your personal use. no one will give a hoot. they do not need to be in a prescription bottle. you do not need the prescription. they will pay absolutely no attention to them.
